| Planning a holiday to Bali and wondering about visa requirements. I hold a passport from the US so do I need to apply for anything before I arrive, or is there a visa on arrival option? |

As a US passport holder you have a couple of options for Bali. You don’t need to apply for a visa before you travel if you prefer not to. The Visa on Arrival (VoA) is available to US citizens at Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport, costs around 500,000 IDR (roughly $35 USD), and gives you 30 days which can be extended once for another 30 days.
Alternatively, you can apply for the e-VOA online before you fly, which is the same visa but saves you time in the arrival queue. It’s worth doing if you want a smoother arrival experience: https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id
Either way, make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date. Also note that Indonesia now requires all visitors to complete a digital arrival card before landing through the All Indonesia platform: https://allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id. Enjoy Bali!
