Can someone else apply for my ESTA on my behalf?

My elderly dad needs a US ESTA before our family holiday but he’s not comfortable filling in online forms. Can I do it for him? Just want to make sure it’s actually allowed.

Yes, that’s completely allowed. The official ESTA system actually has a specific option for a third party (like a family member) to complete the application on someone else’s behalf. You’ll just need to have all your dad’s passport details and personal information to hand when filling it in.

The application is done through the official CBP portal and there’s a checkbox to indicate you’re applying on behalf of another person: https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov

If you’d prefer an even more guided process, iVisa (https://ivisa.com) also supports ESTA applications and makes it very straightforward to fill in on someone else’s behalf. Either way, just make sure all the details match his passport exactly. Hope you all have a great family holiday!
